Goddard, Robert Hutchings

Born October 5 1882, Worcester (Massachusetts) - Died August 10 1945.
Expert on rocket propulsion and 'father' of current rocketry. During W.W.I he performed experiments at Clark College, later on supported by Smithsonian Institution and Daniel Guggenheim. Wrote A method of reaching extreme altitudes (Smithsonian Miscellaneous Collections, 71, nr. 2, 1919) and Liquid-propellant rocket development (95, nr. 3, 1936). After his death, his wife, Esther Goddard, and G. Pendray published his diary, Rocket development, liquid fuel rocket-research 1929–1941 (1948).
