SHOW HOPE : "Your
idea fascinated me when asked by Guus and Ildiko, and I'm very willing
to participate. But soon after I noticed it is not so easy to show hope
in a painting. I looked at my life and remembered good things in my life.
When I was young, I was more or less the fool of the village, or at least
didn't get much respect because I was 'artist' or 'different'. Because
I did not work but I painted. In the mid eighties I had the opportunity
to make an exhibition in the Scandinavia and was lucky to get a permission
from the ministry of culture, who wanted to see Hungarian artists go West.
In the years to come almost a dozen exhibitions in the West followed.
After that I was no longer fool of town but I became respected like man
should be respected, or even more.
