Help/Faq

While installing my patches, you can encounter errors. Most of these errors relate to missing files you need to install. Full instruction for the most common errors are found below. If an explanation is unclear or you get an other error, please contact me.
There errors are explained in this faq:
- Can't install: all checkboxes greyed out
- Runtime Error 3134 Syntax Error to INSERT INTO"
- Error 429: Can't create ActiveX object
- Runtime Error 3026
- Runtime Error 3633
- You get the error "Component`MSCOMCTL` or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"
- You get the error "<filename> not found"
This can occur if OCTGN, MtgPlay or MTGIE are not registered in the expected way. To fix this:
- Download octgn.reg, mtgie.reg or mtgplay.reg
- Open it in a text-edit such as Notepad
- If necessary, change the values found in this file. For help on these values check the comments inside the appropriate file
- If necessary, rename the file, to have the extension ".reg"
- Double click the .reg file and choose "OK" to update your registry.
I'm not sure what causes this error, but it seemes fixed if you just run the patch again after getting this error. I'm still working on it though.
If you get this error, you don't have DAO 3.6 installed. To solve this problem, you must take a number of steps:
- Download dao360.zip (Click here) and unzip it into a temporary directory
- Create a directory with the name DAO under C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared
- Copy Dao360.dll to this directory
- Select Start and Run from the Taskbar to open the Run dialog box
- Then type
regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files\ Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO\dao360.dll"
Ensure that the file name is specified within quotes. Ignorge the linbreak: everything must be on the same line. - You should get a dialog saying everything is OK
- Your done!. If you are still getting the error, please send me an email
