History
My good old 32KB Sharp Organizer started to breakdown, and I needed a replacement. I accidently ran into the Helio, which was about the same price of a good organizer, so I went for the Helio. After I getting home with my new toy, I looked on the internet to see if I could find some software for it. I ran into the VTOS SDK which allowed me to write programs for the Helio...Cool!
I did have the required programming skills but lacked ideas. I didn't want to make something that had been done before. I couldn't find a decent chess program for the Helio. So I decided to write one myself. The main motivation was programming itself, I am a horrible chess player.
Current Status
Though you can play a chess game with ChessMate and quite a few features have been implemented, it is still work in progress. Not all features I intend ChessMate to have are implemented and there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. I work on ChessMate when I have nothing else to do. Consequently it may take quite a while before I finish the To do list.
