Why these Future Pages ?

• To spread a transhumanistic view of the future. Especially on technological area's. This is no attempt to predict the future, only to foresee some revolutionary technological applications for the future. Ofcourse it has been proven extremely difficult to predict the future, witnessing the many wrong predictions from the past. ( Remember the predictions in the 60's of personal flying cars.) But this concerns mainly social and economical predictions and therefore I leave those to others. However it should be clear that the social and economical consequences of certain fundamentally new technologies (like Molecular Nanotechnology) will be enormous.
• Because I've explained the items on these pages to many people, many times. And it seems the web is the ideal medium to distribute this information. I don't force people to listen to me, everybody determines for himself if it interesting enough to keep reading. In real life I often have the urge to keep on talking without stopping, to find out, afterwards that the actual person wasn't interested at all. It seems that I have a mental deficiency because I can't possibly imagine someone not be interested in these issues.
• To show an optimistic view of the future. Today one is mostly confronted with rather pessimistic expectations of the future (e.g. increasing environmental problems, increasing crime rate , decreasing job security, energy shortages , overpopulation, etc..) However, with all these predictions there has not been taken into account that new (technological) developments can drastically alter these predictions, even into a positive direction.
• The original purpose of these pages was to create some Dutch webpages about these transhumanistic isues. There are already sufficient articles in the English language available on the net, but I was unable to find any Dutch articles.
  It seems that Dutch people are hardly interested in future developments for the long term ?
• And last but not least, to find Dutch people who share my interests.
  It seems that this goal has indeed been fulfilled! Recently a Dutch Transhumanist Society was founded. These pages brought us all together, and contributed to the initiation of this society.
