Eindhoven, The Netherlands Using their voices as their instruments and supported by a high degree of professionalism, enthusiasm, dedication, a sense of fun and a carefully selected repertoire, the "Dietsch Vocaal Ensemble" double quartet has developed into an ensemble with a difference since its foundation in 1969. Led by its founder and artistic director Ed Kronenburg, the ensemble manages to turn every concert into a special occasion. The eight vocalists proved this in many locations in the Netherlands and abroad. They traveled to Belgium, France, Denmark, Switzerland and Japan to give concerts which were very successful. Apart from this, radio broadcasts for various Dutch broadcasting stations were made. Nearly all members of the ensemble have some sort of professional training in music. The repertoire -selected and practiced by all members- is extensive and versatile. Whenever this is required by certain compositions, one or more voices or instrumentalists are added to the ensemble. The ensemble's versatility makes it possible to put together programmes suitable for every occasion. The ensemble's repertoire consists of sacred and secular music from the 15th to the 20th century, from the Western European Renaissance up to contemporary composers. Christmas Carols, Masses, Passions, Madrigals or Motets, French chansons or English songs, Chorals or Close Harmony are performed with decorum or high spirits, as required by the occasion, but always with the contagious pleasure in making music which has become the trade-mark of the "Dietsch Vocaal Ensemble" |
