Project Banyuning

Together with Made in January/February of 2005 we made an inventory of what is needed for the little village of Banyuning situated in the district of Bunutan on the coast of North East Bali. This part of Bali is a coastal strip behind which is a steep volcanic mountain range. It is a dry and barren land where the only crop that grows is corn and the population mainly lives from fishing and tourism which sadly these days is in decline. The bombing of 12th October 2002 and the Indonesian policy of granting Visas and finally the Tsumani (which had no effect on Bali) have led to minimal income from tourism.

There are now a few projects that the population themselves cannot afford and for which they ask our help. Some projects are more urgent, others can wait a bit longer. Via regular updates on this site we will try to keep everyone informed about the progress of current and future initiatives.

Banyuning project is an ongoing project: we have fund from which school uniforms are paid for children from the village and also accute first aid. Also we provide in some cases micro credit, for setting up small independent ventures. This fund is completed with donations which we receive from kind people who feel themselves addressed by our initiative.
